Why do you put a wheat beer glass back on the table after clinking?
Because of the yeast. The yeast in wheat beer settles down at the bottom of the glass after its poured. Shake the glass and the dissolved yeast spreads again. So it’s better to put your glass down after clinking… It gives the yeast time to settle down so you can enjoy the delicious beer.
Insider tip: Want to look like a real German?
Toast your wheat beer glasses at the foot of the glass. Not at the upper side. This is done because the glass is rather delicate at the top. It’s the champagne flute of the beer glasses.
